Today's Look... You're Eyes at Sunset

Today I am keeping true to my recent promise to start creating bright vibrant looks on myself again. Without meaning to I used colors that resemble shades seen in a tropical sunset.

I had so much fun creating this look that I included a quick step by step guide to show you how to recreate this fun but sexy tropical sunset eye.

Film & Television Class Photo Shoots

A few weeks ago I finished my Film & Television course in school. Just like at the end of every other course completed thus far we gotten the opportunity to have 2 photo shoots, showcasing our work. I was given complete creative freedom when it came to style and direction, as well as make up and costume design.

My first photo was of a tribal angel wing tattoo. I was looking for a large back piece that would be simple but bold with a obvious message or symbol. This make up was straight forward but took plenty of time to fill in. The hardest part would have to of been trying to keep the lines as straight as possible.

Model: Evan

My second photo was my version of the Batman character "Two Face". I was definitely trying to go for a more realistic take on what he could have looked like as a character. This photo is one of my favourite make ups and photos I have had taken during school. I was extremely happy and proud of the out come. However with that said there are always things you can improve & learn from.

Just wanted to give a special thanks to my handsome model Evan for coming to school with me and letting me put a whole bunch of uncomfortable products on your face & of course to Danielle; Photographer & Editor.

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram for more pictures and daily updates.

Theatre Class Photo Shoots

Two weeks ago I had completed my Theatre course at Complections. We had our photo shoots within the last couple days of the course and got our final prints back on Wednesday.

Doing these photo shoots for school was quite exciting because I got to control the creative direction.

My first photo shoot was based off prints made by artist,  Roy Lichtenstein. My model was meant to look as much like the printed comic as possible.

My idea was to play on the tears already rolling down her cheeks and really see the sadness in her eyes. She was meant to look like she was almost at a funeral. I also choose to dress her in all black to contrast from her colourful make-up and hair.

Model: Amanda F

My second photo shoot was created around the idea of doing a shoot in UV black light. I have always loved  black lighting, as well as any glow in the dark art or paint.

I had chosen to do a tiger lady because I wanted to create a image that would be simple but bold and powerful. I also need something that was still bright enough to leap off the page.

Model: Camille H

A lot of work went into these photo shoots on everyone's part. I would like to send out a very special thanks to Amanda & Camille for coming down to Complections and volunteering their time to model for me.
Thank you so very much!!

Current course: Film & Television... blog to come soon. :)

Fashion Class Photo Shoots

As mentioned in my last blog I am currently attending a make-up school in Toronto called Complections.

Though out my time at Complections I will be learning the basics of hair styling, fashion, theatre, film & television, and special effect make-up.

So far I have completed their hair styling, fashion, and theatre courses. It seems crazy that I have already almost completed half the program.

I have finally received my pictures from my first photo shoot. During each course we are given the opportunity to have photos taken of two make ups that we would like displayed in our portfolios. Once the photos are taken we choose a shot we like for editing. It is then printed and ready to be placed in our portfolios.

These are my photo's for my fashion course...

Quick Update: Face Painting

In a previous blog post I had mentioned that I would be face painting for a kids banquet, past Sunday.

I was really worried about how long it would take me to paint each child. I knew there would be a lot of kids, and not enough time. I was also worried that I would just out right suck. Before this I had never tried my hand at face painting and didn't know if I would crack under the pressure.

I am happy to report that it was a great success. Arriving there I was pretty nervous, but really didn't have a lot of time to think about it. Once I had set myself up, my sign up sheet was already filling up. I was surprised that I did a lot of arm painting. A lot of kids wanted words, or sayings. Snakes wrapping around the arm was really popular as well. As far as actual face painting there was a lot of butterflies for the girls, and bats/batman for the boys. Sadly I would have to say batman was probably my weakest work that day. :( Oh well...

Once I had got the hang of painting different people (from babies to adults) and had a feel for what people expected I actually started to have a lot of fun. I hope to continue to practice, and hopefully get better and maybe start doing this as side work.

I wish I had taken more pictures. To be honest I only took one picture all day!!! I know right. :/ I just didn't really have the time, trying to get through as many people as possible. The picture I did take have to be my two favourite faces. My tiger ladies....

This is some practice work I did the night before...

All together I had a great time face painting for all those kids. It was a great experience and something I would defiantly do again.

Update: Face Painting & Prom Season

Ello everyone.

I know that I have not been around these past few months. Truthfully more like since the beginning of the year. I think this has been a combination of actually being busy, and plain laziness at times. I think I actually needed a break for a little while there, and I just let that break drag on far too long.

I have quiet a few blogs I am hoping to post very soon. First I wanted to update you all on my latest project; Face Painting.  This coming weekend at work we are having quite a few children come in from out Jr. Program. They are having a end of the year beach party, and I was asked if I would do some face painting. I thought this could be a fun challenge  that would only make me better at what I already love doing.

I had to start from scratch when it came to makeup and brushes. To be completely honest I am still not completely ready for this Sunday. I still need to buy many more brushes, as well as a couple little things I want to add. However, I have been practising since I got my product in the mail. I decided to order from Diamond FX. I got almost every basic color they had in the 32g pans. I will also be using my UV Dayglow Palette from Kryolan, as well as different types of makeup safe sparkles & glitter.

Here is a couple pictures of me practising. My poor boyfriend, Evan was kind enough to let me paint his face.

I will be sure to post lots of pictures of the kids. I am kinda nervous but super excited at the same time. I think my biggest worry is my timing. I'm sure Ill have quite a few kids to go through and only 2 hours or so to do so.

If anyone knows of any websites that have simple face painting idea's for kids, please comment below. I would love to check them out.

Also I'm excited to say I will be doing Taylor's, a co-worker of mine, makeup for prom on Friday night. She wants to keep her look very natural, but I'm going to see if we can glam it up a bit for prom. I again will make sure to post lots of pictures. Well, as many as she will let me take. ;)

Soda Pop Series: 7 Up

Day #5: 7 Up
I created a limey UV bright look for 7 Up. It was a fun look to create because it was one of the pops that gave you the most colors to play with. I also love any excuse to mix a lime green and yellow together. I added in the red on the bottom of the eye to use all colors of the signature pop can. :)
