Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Review

A few weeks ago I had found myself inside a Sephora for the first time in quite a long time. Two items I have been specifically on the hunt for have been an long lasting liquid lipstick, and a great highlighter. I had enough time to check out almost every cosmetic line, as I like to. I have already tried quite a few liquid lipsticks and have found a variety of problems with all of them. Kat Von D was one of the few brands I had yet to try out when it came to the liquid lipstick category, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

(Left to Right) Nosferatu & Lovecraft
I have tried a few of KVD's products such as her eye shadow palettes, lipsticks, and lip glosses. Over all I didn't get the quality I was hoping for, but was most disappointed in the lipsticks and glosses. The lipsticks didn't last, and color pay off was barely there. The glosses were tacky and sticky making them super annoying to wear. Since then I have seen some huge improvements. I've seen the quality of the Kat Von D products go up 100%.

I first decided to swatch the everlasting liquid lipsticks in store to see which color seemed to last, and what they actually looked like out of the tube. I was happy to see her most vibrant colors seemed to stay the best. Some colors even stained my skin forcing me to use an oil based remover to get it off. I was also happy to see a wide variety of colors. They range from more natural and muted tones, all the way to vibrant reds and electric blue and purples. I chose to purchase a deep red called Nosferatu & a more neutral tone called Lovecraft.

Once I got home and was able to apply the lipsticks to my lips I found them to be very light. By light I mean you don't get that caked on feeling. Your lip do not feel like they are wear a coat of something. The lipstick also does not dry out your lips. As long as you apply your liquid lipstick to clean dry lips, your lipstick should stay in place and not crack or dry. The liquid lipstick also apply to lips very smoothly. The lipstick itself is very creamy and smooth making it easy to move and spread. Lastly Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick ever-lasted! It lasted hours! When I say hours I am not over exaggerating. It last through out me talking, working, drinking, and eating my dinner. Yes, you will have to touch it up after fully eating, however touch ups are minor and typically just in the center of the lips.

Lovecraft & Nosferatu

Lovecraft / Nosferatu
You can find Kat Von D's liquid lipsticks at Sephora, or anywhere KVD make up is sold. One everlasting liquid lipstick at Sephora will run you $26 CND / $20 US. As far as pricing goes for the quality and amount of product you get I say this is very fair. The tube are actually pretty long, and are completely filled.

Lovecraft

Nosferatu

Over all I was very happy with my experience testing Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick. I am very excited to purchase more shade for my kit. It has honestly become my go to lipstick because of how light it feels on your lips and how long it lasts.

I hope you found this review helpful, if not at least entertaining. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please feel free to leave a comment below.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Update

Just wanted to update on how doing my eyebrows went using Jeffree Star's Velour Liquid Lipstick was going.

I start by getting some of liquid lipstick out onto a palette of some sort. I personally begin applying my brows by simply painting on the color using an angled brush. I do like to try and start with the bottom end or line of the brow, moving onto my top line and then filling in the center of the brow. I do my very best to make sure the brow is a saturated with color as possible. No, you should not have color dripping from your brows, however there really shouldn't be any "bald" or colorless spots either. Next you can use a q-tip with some make-up remover or a baby wipe to get rid of any extra color that may be outside the lines. Last you can poweder your brow, although I do not find this nessisary. I do like to use a clear brow gel just to seal everything in and make sure all my actual brow hairs stay in place.

I found Jeffree Star's liquid lipsticks to work very well in achieve bright and bold eyebrows. The color does not smudge off, however be careful and watch any inital excess color on your brows. The color is long lasting, and will with stand a day of sweat. The issue I seemed to have was staining my skin. I guess because I wear color brows so often and because they are lipsticks they do tend to stain the skin. You will have to work extra hard removing or scrubbing off these brows!

Over all I would say YES to using Jeffree Star's liquid lipsticks on my brows. I personally love the colors he has to offer. I love how they don't smudge or rub off and last a long time. A great product over all.

Anastasia Liquid Lipstick Review

Over the past couple of weeks I have been trying all kinds of liquid lipsticks. Liquid lipstick isn't something new in the make-up world. It's just something that has become extremely poplar in the past couple of months.

This week I tried Anastatisa Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Rio. Rio is a bright blue based pink. It is extremely vibrant and packed with color. To be honest the reason I chose this shade was because I was looking for something better to do my eyebrows with.

First, lets start with packaging. Striaght forward and simple. No surprises here, which I kinda like. The lipstick comes in a simple lipgloss like tube. It has a pretty average wand applicator and basic screw on lid.

The first thing I did was try this liquid lipstick on my eyebrows. I simply put some product onto a palette and began to apply it to my brows using an angled brow brush. When it came to my eyebrows the liquid lipstick worked great. It was extremely bright and vibrant. Got into all the spaces in-between hairs and sat well through out the day. The liquid lipstick did not rub off or fade through out whhch is a huge plus. I would have to say the only down fall is the stain it leaves in your eyebrows and on your skin. When you go to remove your brow make-up you will probably need to use a remover, making sure you get inbetween all the little hairs. Your also going to want to clense and tone your face (as everyone should always be doing) to remove acsess dirt and color. With all this said and done, you may still have a slighty pink stain on your skin. Just a warning.

Next I tried Rio on my lips, where it "should" be. The liquid lipstick applied nice and smooth allowing me to get a nice edge with no bleeding or mess. The wand that is provided in the bottle worked just as many other wands do. (You may want to apply around the edges with an actutal lipstick brush depending on your confidence.) The color, as it was on my brows was very bold and vibrant. Then a couple minutes went by and my lips began to feel really cakey and cracked. The liquid lipstick was begining to seperate and build up on my lips. It made my lips feel very dry and dehydrated. So before calling it a lost cause I decided to try again after using a lip scrub and lip mosituizer. I of course waited for all these products to soak in before applying my liquid lipstick. And again, cakey, cracking, dry lips. I even found that a lot of the product was buiding up and getting into my mouth.

The picture above was taken right after the lip color was applied. I don't have a photo of Rio after a bit of wear, however after only 5 minutes of wearing it to take this photo it was already cracking and caking.

Unfortunately I did not have the best experience with Anastasia's Liquid Lipstick while being used on my lips, and probably won't use Rio as a lip color, however I absolutely loved using them on my eyebrows. It worked very well and lasted a long time.

Remember, I have only tried one shade from the entire line. Unfortunately sometimes not all liquid lipsticks are made the same. It could vary from color to color however something like this is usually a warning for across the board.

With that said with all the rave reviews and talk about Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks I will most likely try another color again. I'm hoping it was maybe just that shade and will have a diffrent experience next time around.

Review... ESO Smooth Lip Balm 2014 Holiday Collection

Inspired by travel and the warm sun, this limited edition eos Smooth Sphere lip balm flavor trio was inspired by fashion designer Rachel Roy. Each pack includes brand-new, limited edition flavors Indian Summer Orange Blossom, Aloha Hawaii Strawberry Kiwi, and St. Barth's Sunrise Pink Grapefruit. USDA-certified organic and 100% natural with a special design on each lip balm, this collection is sure to keep you smiling all season long. Makes a great holiday gift or stocking stuffer.

Over the holidays I was shopping (of course) and came across a Evolution of Smooth holiday set that came with 3 EOS sphere lip balms. I thought since I have never tried them why not give this holiday pack a try.

So as mentioned there were 3 lip balms included. As far as packaging went it was very cute and very giftable. You could tell right away that it was made to give as a gift during the holiday season. They came in a circular container with a clear lid so you could see the contents.

Lip Balms include Indian Summer Orange Blossom, Aloha Hawaii Strawberry Kiwi, & St Barth's Sunrise Pink Grapefruit. (Personal favorite: St. Barth's Sunrise Pink Grapefruit)

Each EOS lip balm came in its classic sphere shape, as well as regular twist on container. At first I wasnt too sure how I would feel about having a round lip balm. I found that in the end the shape had no effect on how I felt about it.  The round edge makes it a little easier to apply in one round consecutive motion. I thought it was a cute and funky idea simply because its diffrent. With this said like many other lip balms or lip chap I find that the lid & edges tend to get dirty quickly. I thought there may be a tighter seal on the EOS balms due to the lid actually screwing onto the bottom but found them to be just like any other lip balm.

The first thing I noticed about the actual product was the smell. These EOS lip balms smell like candy and will continue to smell like candy while you were them. There is no horrible after taste from licking your lips either.

I enjoyed the way these balms applied smoothly to my lips. Its glided on nicely without over applying. At first my lips were very smooth & felt moisturized however after only a few minutes I found myself needing to apply more. I also found that as this lip balm absorbed into my lips, they started to feel s little dry. Almost as if I need to continue to reapply, reapply. Over a couple days of use I found my lips to be more dried out then when I had started.

At first I was really excited about this product. I think its a super cute idea, in a unique package however I was a little disappointed with the product itself.

Hope you found this review useful. Feel free to leave any questions or comments below.

Nails... Gel Polish Manicure- The Pro's & Con's

About a week and a half ago I went to get my acrylic nails filled. While getting them done I decided to try a gel nail polish instead of my regualar polish & top coat.

The only reason I decided to switch was because it was my birthday the following week & thought I would treat myself to something new. I had gotten nails painted with gel once before but my experience with them was a bit of a toss up. I always enjoyed the look of shiney gel nails, however I was never super excited about the price. (Almost an extra $15 in my case.) I also found that the gel polish would fade and slowly rub off when I would use rubbing alcohol while doing make up. Luckily this time around I havent had the same problem.

This time Im actually really enoying the look and duriblity of my nails. They seem to be a bit stronger & dont seem to be chipping or fading. (1.5 weeks) They are still beautiful & shiney- just a little grown out.

Earlier today I was reading an article about the pros & cons of wearing gel nails or polish. It seemed to me that the biggest concerns are the damaged caused to your nail beds, the frequent soaking of nails/hands in acetone to remove gel polish or gel nails and hands being left directly under UV light to dry.

Yes, after a prolonged period of time you could begin to see damage to your nails, but that is with anytime of false nail. It helps to ensure you are getting them done somewhere where they know how to do gel nails properly.

The acetone was a concer because of how much it dries out the nails and skin. I believe it is even absorbed into the blood stream through frequent skin contact. May salons have begun to use acetone soak pads on each nail instead of having the client completely submerge thier whole hand into the acetone.

The UV light helps to cure & dry the nails, layer by layer- which basically means yout hands sit under a UV lamp for half the time you get your nails done. The UV rays, of course are the best thing to be having our hands sit under. As much as there isnt too much of a solution right now, some brands have begun to use LED light which is much better for our skin.

When wearing false nails for an extended period of time you also need to make sure that there are no cracks or spaces for water to leak in. Not only does this allow yout nails to come off faster but it can cause even more damage to the nails, including fungal infections... Yuck. Only get your nails "filled" once or twice, not as long as they will last.

will admit when I get them filled I will probably stick with the gel polish. If you have any questions or concerns about a new product or trying a new product always make sure to research & ask the questions you want answered.

A rush of colour and moisture. Apply in a flash for long lasting wear.
Light weight, long lasting intense colour moisture. Intensely smooth long lasting balm, that is comfortable to wear all day. Colour Rush for hours in 7 high voltage shades. Dermatology tested.

Recently I was told by a good make up friend that the Rimmel London Colour Rush balms are absolutely amazing. A little while later I got the opportunity to try them and I must say I went right out and bought myself some the next day.

The Colour Rush Balms come in a tube with a twist bottom, somewhat like a regular lipstick but looks more like a jumbo pencil. They also have a awesome Vanilla scent.

These Colour Rush Balms are packed with colour and a ton of moisture to keep your lips soft and smooth all day long. They apply smoothly to your lips. There is very little need to layer on the product. These balms apply opaque with it's first application. The Colour Rush Balms will not dry on your lips, however they do last a few hours depending on how much you are eating, drink, ect.

Rumour Has It
Viva Violet

Right- Rumour Has It
Left- Viva Violet
They come in 7 different shades, all ranging from neutral pale shade to bight pink and red. They can be purchased at your local Shoppers Drugmart or anywhere Rimmel London products are sold. They are priced anywhere between $6-$8 CA.

Over all I was very impressed with this product. We have seen many through out the market over the past couple years and I must say I absolutely love how it applies and lasts. I can also appreciate it's affordable pricing. I hope to add more to my collection soon.

Stila- Custom Color Blush Review

This perceptive, one-shade-fits-all powder blush reacts to skintone and individual pH to create a perfect, personalized shade. Ultra-blendable, with a velvety-soft finish, this clever powder smoothes the appearance of fine lines, leaving the skin with a natural glow and a luminous, flawless flush.

Next up is Stila's Custom Color Blush. The shade of Custom Color Blush I am reviewing today is called Self-adjusting Coral. This blush comes in a cute black casing with a compact mirror.

The blush itself is a very pretty Coral with lots of golden shimmer. This blush is very pigmented and applies decently well to the skin.

This product is sold for $26 CA and can be found at Sephora, online or in stores.

As much as this product worked for those who suited the shade, it was nothing extraordinary. I had no problem using it, but would not go out of my way to purchase it again.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Review

I absolutely love this lipsticks!! Getting to try them was such a pleasant surprise. At first I wasn't sure if they were lipstick or lip glosses.

The lipstick come in gloss like tubes and is liquid. Once applied to the lips these shades dry matte. They are extremely pigmented and will last you hours. I found my color lasted a good 3.5-4 hours. During that time I ate dinner. I was impressed.

If I had to compare this to any other product it would be Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars. They applied the same way and seem to be just as pigmented. The shade you see in the bottle is the color that will appear on your lips.

The shades I reviewed are...
Bellissima- Taupe
Fiore- Bright Pink
Beso- Red

These liquid lipsticks cost $29 CA. They can be purchased at Sephora in store & online.

These are probably some of the best lipsticks I have ever used. They have fantastic pigmentation and lasts for hours.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner Review

I was super excited to try Stila's Intense Black Waterproof Eyeliner. I have heard so many good things about this eyeliner pen, and I'm find these good reviews to be true.

This Black liquid eyeliner comes in the form of a pen. It had a nice thin to thick tip so your eyeliner can be applied anyway. This liquid liner is actually waterproof and seems to last all day long.

This product retails for $26 and comes in a variety of colors. It can be found at Sephora in store & online.

Over all this is probably the best liquid eyeliner pen I have used. Lasts all day and is very easy to apply.

Urban Decay: Quickie; Afterglow Check Tint Review

Finally! Sheer, buildable cheek tints that glide on and feel weightless – (never heavy or greasy like your grandma’s cream blush). Our techy-feeling tint applies effortlessly on top of any foundation or bare skin… no pulling or rubbing needed to make it look right. And you’ll never get that powdery, cakey look that sometimes comes from powder blush. Our modern, yummy shades include a shameless hot pink, a super-healthy berry and natural peachy tints, to name a few. The formula is loaded with good-for-you ingredients like Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Vitamin A, so your skin gets nourished and protected. The color goes on more sheer than it looks in the pan, but since its so buildable, YOU control how much you want to blush. We also love to blend two shades together to mimic a natural flushed effect. Whether you’ve been a fan of cream blush in the past or not, the shades, the silky formula and the little foil snake on the top of our compact will definitely make you a believer.

Included in a lot of my Sephora shopping experiences comes samples. Some I could care less about and other actually excite me to try. This sample was one of the few I was actually looking forward to. I got a sample for Urban Decays Afterglow Cream Blush. Unlike many blushes this one is cream based allowing you to place color exactly where you want, and build up the color on your cheeks.

This sample came in a very tiny little dot, with the signature Urban Decay purple paper wrapped around it. The shade I received is called Quickie. Quickie is bright barbie pink.
