Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Review

A few weeks ago I had found myself inside a Sephora for the first time in quite a long time. Two items I have been specifically on the hunt for have been an long lasting liquid lipstick, and a great highlighter. I had enough time to check out almost every cosmetic line, as I like to. I have already tried quite a few liquid lipsticks and have found a variety of problems with all of them. Kat Von D was one of the few brands I had yet to try out when it came to the liquid lipstick category, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

(Left to Right) Nosferatu & Lovecraft
I have tried a few of KVD's products such as her eye shadow palettes, lipsticks, and lip glosses. Over all I didn't get the quality I was hoping for, but was most disappointed in the lipsticks and glosses. The lipsticks didn't last, and color pay off was barely there. The glosses were tacky and sticky making them super annoying to wear. Since then I have seen some huge improvements. I've seen the quality of the Kat Von D products go up 100%.

I first decided to swatch the everlasting liquid lipsticks in store to see which color seemed to last, and what they actually looked like out of the tube. I was happy to see her most vibrant colors seemed to stay the best. Some colors even stained my skin forcing me to use an oil based remover to get it off. I was also happy to see a wide variety of colors. They range from more natural and muted tones, all the way to vibrant reds and electric blue and purples. I chose to purchase a deep red called Nosferatu & a more neutral tone called Lovecraft.

Once I got home and was able to apply the lipsticks to my lips I found them to be very light. By light I mean you don't get that caked on feeling. Your lip do not feel like they are wear a coat of something. The lipstick also does not dry out your lips. As long as you apply your liquid lipstick to clean dry lips, your lipstick should stay in place and not crack or dry. The liquid lipstick also apply to lips very smoothly. The lipstick itself is very creamy and smooth making it easy to move and spread. Lastly Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick ever-lasted! It lasted hours! When I say hours I am not over exaggerating. It last through out me talking, working, drinking, and eating my dinner. Yes, you will have to touch it up after fully eating, however touch ups are minor and typically just in the center of the lips.

Lovecraft & Nosferatu

Lovecraft / Nosferatu
You can find Kat Von D's liquid lipsticks at Sephora, or anywhere KVD make up is sold. One everlasting liquid lipstick at Sephora will run you $26 CND / $20 US. As far as pricing goes for the quality and amount of product you get I say this is very fair. The tube are actually pretty long, and are completely filled.

Lovecraft

Nosferatu

Over all I was very happy with my experience testing Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick. I am very excited to purchase more shade for my kit. It has honestly become my go to lipstick because of how light it feels on your lips and how long it lasts.

I hope you found this review helpful, if not at least entertaining. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please feel free to leave a comment below.

Mosaic Art Music Video by Jessica Sole

A couple weeks ago I was given the opportunity to work with the talented Jessica Sole on her very first music video for her song Mosaic Art. This video was made for a beautiful song with a strong message. I was more then happy to be apart of something so thoughtful and something clearly so special to Jessica and her family.

Once Mosaic Art is released I will be sure to post the full video here on my blog. Until then here are some behind the scene shots from Mosaic Arts one day shoot!

In Nemus

Last month I had the opportunity to work on a video called "In Nemus" for a talented Toronto dance group. This video was created and directed by Alix Kell.

As I am sure you'll be able to notice the video has a slight Alice in Wonderland theme, which is always fun. This was definitely a more creative and fun shoot, filled with colourful and wild hair and make-up.

Below is a link to the video. Hope you enjoy!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Update

Just wanted to update on how doing my eyebrows went using Jeffree Star's Velour Liquid Lipstick was going.

I start by getting some of liquid lipstick out onto a palette of some sort. I personally begin applying my brows by simply painting on the color using an angled brush. I do like to try and start with the bottom end or line of the brow, moving onto my top line and then filling in the center of the brow. I do my very best to make sure the brow is a saturated with color as possible. No, you should not have color dripping from your brows, however there really shouldn't be any "bald" or colorless spots either. Next you can use a q-tip with some make-up remover or a baby wipe to get rid of any extra color that may be outside the lines. Last you can poweder your brow, although I do not find this nessisary. I do like to use a clear brow gel just to seal everything in and make sure all my actual brow hairs stay in place.

I found Jeffree Star's liquid lipsticks to work very well in achieve bright and bold eyebrows. The color does not smudge off, however be careful and watch any inital excess color on your brows. The color is long lasting, and will with stand a day of sweat. The issue I seemed to have was staining my skin. I guess because I wear color brows so often and because they are lipsticks they do tend to stain the skin. You will have to work extra hard removing or scrubbing off these brows!

Over all I would say YES to using Jeffree Star's liquid lipsticks on my brows. I personally love the colors he has to offer. I love how they don't smudge or rub off and last a long time. A great product over all.

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick Review

Reccently I had the opportunity to try out Jeffree Star's Velour Liquid Lipsticks. I have only tried two of his lipstick shades. I know that in the past with other cometic lines sometimes the formula will vary from lip shade to lip shade. I am only reviewing the two lip colors I have tried.

First let's talk packaging. I personally really like it. The only thing I don't like, and I'm sad to say it are all the stars on the lid. I totally I understand why they are on the bottle and could get 2 or 3, but I just think all those stars almost make the lipstick tube or bottle look cheesy. Just my opinon. It doesn't effect the product. With that said, the bottles themselves are simple. No crazy shapes or designs. GOOD! I like it. I like the neon pink caps and clear wands. I also like that the wands are slightly curved to better fit the shape of one's lips.

So the two shades I managed to get my hands on are Blow Pony and I'm Royality. Both of these shades are beautiful shades of purple.

Blow Pony: "The pastel neon is a gorgeous shade of matte lavender." -Jeffree Star website
As it is said on Jeffree's website is it a beautiful shade of matte lavender. It is a real lavender shade and just as it is claimed it dries with a matte finish.

I'm Royality: "A Royal Purple for any diva that wants to make a statement." -Jeffree Star website
This shade reminds me of Prince. Haha. It is a wonderful shade of dark royal purple. This liquid lipstick dries with a matte finish as well. This is my perfered shade out of the two simple because of the color.

Over all I enjoyed both liquid lipsticks. They worked great and were exactly what they were made out to be by Jefree as well as other artist and reviewers. If you are interested in puchasing these liquid lipsticks you can find them at jeffreestarcosmetics.com. They cost $18.00 US each.

I will personally go out and seek more of these liquid lipsticks. I really enjoyed using them. They applied nice and smooth. They lasted a really long time, all day! Plus I absolutely love some of the shades Jeffree has to offer. If you have any questions or comments please leave them in the box below.

Today's Look... Suicide Squad Inspired

For those who may not know I am super excited for the moive, Suicide Squad. Originally I was not planning on doing a look or blogging a look today. I was going to try and keep it pretty basic (minus the purple brows). Instead I decided to continue to adding and ended up creating this look. I want to say it is loosely Suicide Squad inspired simply because that was what came to mind when apply my purples and lime green.

Unfortunately my photos do not do the make-up real justice. (I am working on getting a better lighting set up soon.) My eyeliner and under neither my eyes had a beautiful green sparkle, as well as a fun purpple shimmer in my brows.

Today's Look... Day to Night

Today's look will be a little different then some of the other ones I have posted. Tying in with my last two blog posts I want to show how I would personally take a really quick, basic, off to work daytime look and turn it into something you could wear out in the evening. It really is as simple as adding some additional color and accents to your make up.

When it came to creating my evening looking I made sure to touch up the rest of my make up, even if it wasn't going to change. You always want your look to be completely polished. I usually choose to add a little more blush, contour and highlight for the evening as well.

If you have any questions or comments please leave them in the box below. I hope this has been helpful and inspires some new ideas for your make up routine.

Today's Look...

Today's look is a great example of how one can achieve a more toned down look, but still have that bright pop of color.

The fun thing about this look is that it can be dressed up as the day goes on. For example, you could always wear the more neutral top lid eyeshadow through out the day (going to work) and then leave the pink and purple eyeshadow for the evening. Simply add it when you do your touch up before going out for the night. You can also achieve this very easily by using diffrent lipstick shades.

I would consider my look to be a pretty toned down version of what it could be. I personally would dress it up with a bighter lipshadow, maybe some more shadow if I was going out for the evening.

Today's Look... Current "Everyday/Work" Look

Today's look is all about those days when you don't really want to put in the effort to do a full face of make up or those days when you're running a little late. You're already rushed to get to work and there just isn't enough time.

This is what I do when I'm running late, or don't have enough bag space to bring all the make up I would usually wear. I try to cut some corners by not using any eyeshadow. To give my eye a bit of depth I just add my contour color into the crease of my eyes. I complete the "shadow" by highlighting my brow bone with my highlight color. I also tend to skip such steps as an eye primer. I simply lightly apply my foundation across my eyelid before apply any powders. I also don't usually apply my Nyx jumbo pencil in milk unless I have some extra time, mind you it is only a 5 second step. Same goes for my second foundation shade. I would only apply the lighter shade if I had time to do a liquid highlight. On the day I did this blog I did have the extra time.

-Urban Decay Primer Potion
-Nyx Jumbo Pencil (Milk)

Happy New Year!! Welcoming 2016.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope everyone has had a fabulous holiday seaon filled with lots of love, joy and laughter.

This year I plan on truly bringing War Paint Luv back to life. Yes, last year (even before last year) I began to slack a little on the amount of entires I was posting in my blog. It was for a lack of interet. Life had simply become busy and my attention was needed else where.

Now Im back and this year I will be posting at least two weekly blogs. One being brand and collection related and the other being a "Look of the Day". Of course there will be plenty of other beauty related posts to be seen such as nail blogs and product reviews.

As always I am open to suggestion so If you have a specific idea or topic you would like to see written about please email me at warpaintsarah@gmail.com.

I am truly excited about 2016. I look forward to this year bringing lots of fun and adventure. Best wishes to you all.

Today's Look... Smokey Midori Green

Today's look is a light and dark green combo on the eyes, with neutural natural lips. This look is all around this is a pretty simple and straight forward look to do. I used some of my favourite eyeshadows which of course are made by Sugar Pill.

I do apologize for the lack of lighting in my photos. Unfortunately this was the best spot I could find today so I had to make due with what Ive got. These photos sadly don't do the shadows any justice. They are a lot brighter in person. The lightest green in the corner of my eyes had a lovely shimmer as well. :(
